How to Choose a Party Colour Palette

The colour palette does more for a party than any single prop. Our stylists use the same simple method for every event, and it works just as well if you are decorating yourself.

Pick one hero colour, one supporting colour and one neutral. Everything else is an accent.

Start with something you already have: the invitation, the cake, the outfit or the venue. Then build the palette around it so the photos look calm instead of busy.

  • Hero colour: about 50% of the balloons and florals
  • Supporting colour: about 30%
  • Neutral (white, cream or clear): about 15%
  • Metallic or chrome accent: about 5%

If you are stuck, send us a photo of the invitation. We’ll send back three palettes and how each one looks in a garland.
