Balloons are the happiest part of a party, but a few simple rules keep everyone safe, especially little guests and pets.

Most balloon accidents are avoidable with good placement and good cleanup.

We build every garland with these rules in mind, and they are worth following at home too.

• Keep uninflated and popped balloons away from children under eight
• Fix garlands above toddler height near play areas
• Never release balloons outdoors
• Collect popped pieces straight away and recycle what you can
