How to Read a Décor Quote (and Spot the Lowball)

Two décor quotes for the same party can look very different. Here is how to compare them properly and spot the one that will cost you more later.

A good quote lists every piece. A vague quote leaves room for surprises.

Look for the number of balloons or the garland length, the florals and rentals, and the delivery and teardown times. If something is missing, ask before you sign.

  • Is setup and teardown included?
  • Are rentals listed with a return date?
  • Is there a charge for weights, frames or hooks?
  • What happens if the weather changes outdoor plans?

A clear written proposal protects both of you. If a company won’t put it in writing, keep looking.
